Privacy Policy

Motive (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Motive workout tracking application. This policy explains what information we collect when you use Motive, how we use it, and what choices you have.
Information we collect
Account information
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google’s OAuth service. We store your email and name to identify your account and send you service-related messages.
Workout data
Everything you log in Motive — programs, sessions, sets, reps, weights, and notes — is stored in our database and associated with your account. This data is used solely to provide the service (displaying your history, computing progressive overload targets, generating AI programs).
Payment information
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number or billing details — Stripe handles all payment data. We store a Stripe customer ID and your current subscription status so we can determine whether your account has an active Premium subscription.
Usage and technical data
Our hosting provider (Vercel) collects standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, and pages visited. We may also use basic analytics (page view counts) to understand how the app is used. We do not use advertising trackers or fingerprinting.
How we use your information
- To provide, operate, and improve the Motive service
- To process payments and manage your subscription via Stripe
- To send transactional emails (account confirmation, billing receipts, subscription notices)
- To calculate progressive overload targets and generate AI programs using your workout history
- To respond to support requests
We do not sell your data. We do not use your workout data for advertising. We do not share your personal information with third parties except as described below.
Third-party services
- Google OAuth — used for sign-in. Governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Stripe — used for payment processing. Governed by Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
- Vercel — used for hosting and infrastructure. Governed by Vercel’s Privacy Policy.
- Anthropic— used for AI program generation (Premium feature only). Your program intake details (goals, experience, equipment) are sent to Anthropic’s API to generate a training program. Governed by Anthropic’s Privacy Policy.
Cookies and session storage
Motive uses a single session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or persistent analytics cookies.
Data retention
Your account and workout data are retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account from the Account settings page, your data is permanently removed from our systems. Stripe retains payment records independently, as required by law.
Your rights
You can delete your account and all associated workout data at any time from the Account page inside the app. To request a copy of your data or to ask any privacy-related questions, contact us at the address below.
Children
Motive is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice in the app. Continued use of Motive after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
